Description

Tender, flaky croissants filled with melted cheese and savory ham, baked to perfection for a delightful treat.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 mini croissants
  • 4 slices smoked cheddar cheese, halved
  • ¾ pound deli-cut ham
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg white
  • Poppy seeds, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease your 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Slice each croissant in half horizontally.
  3. Place a half slice of cheddar cheese on the bottom half of each croissant, then layer on a generous slice of ham followed by another half slice of cheese.
  4. Cap the croissants with the top half, forming a sandwich.
  5. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, yellow mustard, honey, and Worcestershire sauce, whisk until smooth.
  6. Spread the butter mixture evenly on the inside of each croissant sandwich.
  7. Arrange the assembled croissant sandwiches snugly in the prepared baking dish.
  8. In another small bowl, whisk together the egg white with a splash of water and brush this mixture over the tops of the croissants.
  9. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top, then bake for 15-18 minutes until the cheese is melted and tops are golden brown.
  10. Let cool for a minute before serving warm.

Notes

Make ahead by assembling up to a day in advance. Can substitute ham with turkey or roasted vegetables.
