- 8 mini croissants
- 4 slices smoked cheddar cheese, halved
- ¾ pound deli-cut ham
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ½ to 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 large egg white
- Poppy seeds, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease your 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Slice each croissant in half horizontally.
- Place a half slice of cheddar cheese on the bottom half of each croissant, then layer on a generous slice of ham followed by another half slice of cheese.
- Cap the croissants with the top half, forming a sandwich.
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, yellow mustard, honey, and Worcestershire sauce, whisk until smooth.
- Spread the butter mixture evenly on the inside of each croissant sandwich.
- Arrange the assembled croissant sandwiches snugly in the prepared baking dish.
- In another small bowl, whisk together the egg white with a splash of water and brush this mixture over the tops of the croissants.
- Sprinkle poppy seeds on top, then bake for 15-18 minutes until the cheese is melted and tops are golden brown.
- Let cool for a minute before serving warm.
Notes
Make ahead by assembling up to a day in advance. Can substitute ham with turkey or roasted vegetables.
