Description

A delicious and flavorful Chicken Shawarma served with a creamy garlic sauce, perfect for a quick meal or a gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cayenne, olive oil, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
  6. Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
  7. Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken in the pita, adding lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.
  8. Drizzle with garlic sauce before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Serve with additional garlic sauce on the side.
