- 2 lbs chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cayenne, olive oil, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
- Add chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
- Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken in the pita, adding lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.
- Drizzle with garlic sauce before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
- Serve with additional garlic sauce on the side.
- Can be served with rice or salad for a complete meal.
