Description

A comforting and festive lasagna that brings warmth and joy to holiday gatherings, featuring layers of meat, cheese, and rich marinara.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your baking dish.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and lay flat.
  3. Combine ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet, cooking until browned. Add onion and garlic, cooking until translucent.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Blend ricotta cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl until creamy.
  6. Spread one-third of the meat sauce in the baking dish, then layer noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat and finish with meat sauce and remaining cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Make-ahead tip: Prepare the lasagna and refrigerate overnight. Add 15-20 minutes to bake time if cooking from the fridge.
