Description

A comforting casserole filled with winter vegetables in a creamy cheese sauce, topped with crispy breadcrumbs.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cauliflower florets
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly steam the cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, cooking for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk along with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir continually until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until it melts into the sauce.
  6. In a greased baking dish, combine your steamed vegetables with the cheese sauce and mix gently.
  7. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is bubbling and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
