Description

Crispy Beef Birria Tacos are a delicious fusion of tender, flavorful beef and crispy tortillas, perfect for a satisfying meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 4 dried guajillo chiles
  • 2 dried ancho chiles
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a pot, boil the dried chiles until softened, then blend with onion, garlic, cumin, oregano, and beef broth until smooth.
  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then add to the pot with the blended sauce.
  3. Simmer the beef on low heat for about 2-3 hours until tender.
  4. Shred the beef and set aside, reserving the broth.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet and dip each tortilla in the reserved broth, then fry until crispy.
  6. Fill each tortilla with shredded beef and fold in half.
  7. Serve hot with chopped cilantro and lime wedges.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef overnight.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer chiles.
  • These tacos can be served with a side of consomé for dipping.
