Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
- 1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water with sugar, adding the yeast, and letting it sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy.
- Mix the dry ingredients: in a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Combine wet and dry by pouring yeast mixture and olive oil into dry ingredients, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 1 hour or until doubled.
- Punch down the dough, knead in mozzarella and Parmesan evenly.
- Shape the dough into a loaf, place it in a greased loaf pan, and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the loaf with melted butter and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, cool for 10 minutes, slice, and serve.
Notes
For enhanced flavors, prepare the dough the night before and let it rise slowly in the refrigerator. Can also be baked in an air fryer at 350°F for smaller portions.
