Description

Delightful apple turnovers made with flaky biscuits, filled with sweet, spiced apples and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine the biscuit mix and milk in a bowl, stirring gently until a soft dough forms.
  3. Sprinkle flour on a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Cut the rolled dough into 4×4 inch squares.
  5. Toss together the diced apples, sugar, and cinnamon in another bowl.
  6. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each square.
  7. Fold the dough over to form triangles and crimp the edges with a fork.
  8. Brush the tops with melted butter and egg wash.
  9. Arrange turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool slightly on a wire rack, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, utilize whole wheat biscuit mix or substitute maple syrup for sugar.
