A delightful fusion of blueberries and cherries wrapped in a flaky pie crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the blueberries, cherries, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl.
  3. Pour the fruit mixture into the prepared pie crust and dot with butter.
  4. Cover with a second pie crust and seal the edges, cutting slits in the top.
  5. Whisk the egg and milk, and brush this mixture over the crust.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes.
  7. Cool the pie before slicing.

Notes

For added richness, consider customizing the filling with a pinch of cinnamon or almond extract.
