Description

Warm and comforting cheese scones, perfect for any occasion, offering a delightful combination of flaky layers and rich, melty cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup diced ham
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and work it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in the shredded cheese and diced ham.
  5. Pour in the milk gradually, stirring until the dough comes together.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently 2-3 times.
  7. Roll the dough out to about 1 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly on a wire rack and serve warm.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute the ham with sun-dried tomatoes or spinach. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
