- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup diced ham
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and work it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently fold in the shredded cheese and diced ham.
- Pour in the milk gradually, stirring until the dough comes together.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently 2-3 times.
- Roll the dough out to about 1 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly on a wire rack and serve warm.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute the ham with sun-dried tomatoes or spinach. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
