- 4 Chicken Thighs
- 1 Cup Buttermilk
- 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Paprika
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
- 2–3 Fresh Jalapeños, Sliced
- Oil for Frying
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, lay the chicken thighs and pour the buttermilk over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the Oil: Fill a frying pan with enough oil to cover the bottom about ½ inch deep. Heat over medium until shimmering.
- Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from buttermilk and dredge it in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
- Add Jalapeño Slices: Toss the sliced jalapeños into the oil during the last few minutes of frying.
- Enjoy: Once cooked, remove and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider baking the chicken at 400°F (200°C) for about 25-30 minutes.
