Description

A nostalgic Southern treat made with creamy sweetness and a hint of vanilla, perfect for sharing with loved ones.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine the granulated sugar, heavy cream, unsalted butter, corn syrup, and vanilla extract in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Stir gently until well combined.
  3. Set the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar dissolves (about 5 minutes).
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook until it reaches the soft ball stage (240°F or 115°C).
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Grease your hands with butter and start pulling the candy.
  7. Shape the candy into logs or bite-sized pieces and dust with powdered sugar.
  8. Allow to set at room temperature for a few hours until firm.

Notes

Can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container. Customize with flavor extracts or added ingredients like sea salt or chopped nuts.
