Description

A delightful blend of sourdough’s tanginess and fresh strawberries, creating a perfect loaf for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups active sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the active sourdough starter with the water in a large bowl. Mix well until uniform.
  2. Add the bread flour and salt gradually, stirring until the dough forms a shaggy mass.
  3. Fold in the chopped fresh strawberries carefully.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise for an additional hour.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Let the loaf cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to a month. Try mixing in chopped nuts or other berries for variety.
