Instructions

  1. Combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat; stir gently until dissolved.
  2. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil without stirring.
  3. Monitor the temperature with a candy thermometer until it reaches 300°F.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in flavoring extract and food coloring.
  5. Pour the molten candy onto the greased baking sheet or silicone mat.
  6. Cut out shapes using star-shaped cookie cutters while warm and dust with powdered sugar.
  7. Let the candies set completely until hardened.
